The Ethical Space comments on the RDR. The long awaited proposals by the Financial Services Authority (FSA) put ethics on the map for retail financial services, seeing ethical practise at the heart of professionalism and competence. The FSA has held firm on some difficult principles and the industry needs to be setting out its strategy and starting changes now.
David Jackman started the ball rolling, emphasisng the central role of ethical principles in financial services while Head of Ethics at the FSA. This has been followed by the Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) initiative spearheading the regulator's drive to change core values across the sector.
